Raising the Vizsla the way it deserves

The Vizsla is as much a dog of the heart as of the field: sensitive, energetic and deeply attached to its family. We breed sparingly, but we breed well — health, temperament and socialization come first.

Health first

Hips, elbows, heart, eyes and a genetic panel are tested before every breeding. A written health guarantee comes with every puppy.

Home-socialized

Our puppies grow up in our family home: children, visitors, everyday sounds and first steps outside, starting the moment their eyes open.

A true “velcro” dog

The Vizsla follows its family from room to room. We prepare every puppy — and every family — for that closeness the breed is known for.

Where the name comes from

Why “Coucher d’Or”

The Vizsla comes in a single colour — a golden rust that seems to glow at sunset. Watch our dogs run in the evening light here in Gatineau, and the kennel’s name (French for “golden sunset”) explains itself.

We’re a small, passionate family, not a business: one or two litters a year, each planned months in advance, every puppy followed until it goes home and well beyond.

Our story
A lone Vizsla walking along a golden leaf-covered forest path
We wanted an active dog to keep up with our family outdoors. We got a golden shadow who never leaves our side — and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.
